You can make a birthday wish
Ask an angel for a kiss
But you better bet your love on me -Herbie Hancock
I celebrated my birthday this week. The big 5-1. Turning 51 doesn't quite have the same ring to it as turning 50. But it was a good birthday anyway. I got phone calls and messages and cash from my favorite people. And I ate some delicious gluten-free vegan key lime cheesecake. There were not 51 candles on it because we practice fire safety 'round here but I still made wishes. Here are three of this year's birthday wishes.
I want Sunday dinners and cookouts and holiday feasts. (Am I hungry?) I want long phone calls and apologies and love letters. I want more moments of just enjoying my family's company. I wish to love and be loved more deeply and authentically than ever before.
This year is the year that I fully embrace and express my professional authority. I may be speaking, teaching, coaching, writing, vlogging...you name it. One thing I won't be doing is shrinking myself.
I want play to be a way of life. I'm going to play music, play catch, play instruments, play cards (UNO and Solitaire), play sports, play movies. Shoot, I'm feeling lucky. I may have to play some numbers too.
